Rules

Participants will gather on Friday, May 25, at 21:00 p.m., and draw lots to decide the shooting locations after the Opening Ceremony. All the teams must submit a film that is no longer than 5 minutes after the 39 allotted hours; the film must be output into the required format. Subtitles in both Chinese and English are required, and a 5-second credit insert for the organizers at the end of the film is required. The submission deadline is 12:00 p.m. (noon) on May 27 at the martial arts Dojo Hall of Tainan Municipal Jhongyi Elementary School. Failure to deliver the file in time will disqualify the film from the contest. The entry fee cannot be refunded if the film is disqualified for this reason.

 

Gathering Location

Shooting Rules

(1) Before the start of the contest, the preparatory work for each team is as follows:

  Script: More than one script or draft can be prepared in advance.
  Crew: Recruiting team members: the number of crewmembers is unlimited.
  Equipment: Each team is required to use its own equipment

(2) All films are required to include three elements designated by the organizers: one prop, one location, and one of 5 possible characters. All films must complete the story design using the designated elements; if any of the elements or information is missing, the film will not be able to enter the final review stage, and it will be automatically disqualified.

  (A) Prop: here will be one prop that must be included in every film; this prop will be announced on the day that the location lottery takes place. Each film must include at least one scene in which the prop can be clearly seen, or else it has to be explicitly mentioned in the dialog.
  (B) Location: Each team will draw lots to decide one shooting location in the Greater Tainan area. This shooting location must appear in the film for at least one minute. The list of the 20 shooting locations will be announced on the contest’s official website before the competition.
  (C) Character: Each team will draw lots to decide which of five characters predetermined by the contest organizers will appear in the film. The actor playing the role must speak at least three lines in the film, or else appear in at least one third of the scenes in the film. The character’s occupation can be presented by the costume worn by the character (e.g., a police officer) or by the dialog spoken by one of the characters in the film.
  (D) Credit: All films must include a 5-second credit at the end of the film that is provided by the organizer. The film will be available to download from the official website.

Submission Format

  (A) Length: The total length of the film must not exceed 5 minutes, including the 5-second credit of the organizer at the end of the film.
  (B) Film Stills: Each film must submit 5 film stills (resolution: 300 dpi; size: 20 cm × 20 cm or above) to use for publishing purposes in the future.
  (C) Dialogue: All of the dialog in the film must have both Chinese and English
subtitles. There will be translators to help modify the grammar, but they will not be responsible for the full translation.
  (D) Format: Use only a USB flash drive when submitting the file. After the screening, the organizer will return the flash drive. The organizer will be responsible for any flash drive lost while in its possession. Make sure you have a backup copy. Please make sure the file can be opened in VLC 2.0.0 software. Video speed rate should not exceed 16 megabits (16 Mb/sec), the screen size should be at least 720 × 480, and should not be over 1920 × 1080.
